Critically Conscious Artists and Educators Called to Elevate

Something remarkable transpired on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Harlem’s own Apollo, a sacred place pregnant with creative possibilities. I boldly assert that its impact will be felt for millennia.  A cultural surge of creative energy was unleashed which changed the relationship of the Earth to its axis. Stand still, pay attention. Can you feel it? Yes, what you are expriencing is the linkering effects of ELEVATE: Black Arts In Education Covening. There, in a sacred, consecrated space, creatives—both artists and educators—met to reimagine futures. Together, we generated incredibly powerful energies to interrogate the status quo and heal our world.  Invoking the Generative Gaze, the spirits of our Ancestors, we employed the tools of ritual, song, dance, poetry and above all, creative collaboration to heal our world.
