Dear Friends:  It has been a while since we connected so I decided to write you to let you know what’s happening in my world this Fall.  I am in the process of completing my Green Fellowship with the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress entitled, Playing the Angels’ Game: Exploring the Perspectives of Black Foreign Service Women. (See announcement https://blogs.loc.gov/folklife/2023/07/afc-fellowship-and-award-recipients-2023/).  Upon completion, I will have conducted 24 interviews with active duty and retired U.S. diplomats who have served with the State Department, the U.S. Agency for International Development and the former U.S. Information Agency.  I anticipate that the Library of Congress will publish the interviews in 2025.  Stay tuned for more information about this exciting project.

In September, I have been asked to offer the Opening Affirmation for the Inaugural Elevate: Black Arts in Education Convening (see announcement https://www.apollotheater.org/event/elevate-convening) for details, imagine me at the historic Apollo Stages at Victoria in New York.  I am so very excited.

The 47th Fulbright Conference accepted my proposal to present Exploring the Arts and Generative Leadership in Nigeria in DC in October and I am thrilled to be able to share my Fulbright Specialist experience with colleagues.

In November, I will be serving on a panel at the International Leadership Association’s Global Conference themed Architects of Change: Leaders, Followers, and Communities in Chicago.  Our panel is entitled Africana Women’s Wisdom: Applying Indigenous Ways of Knowing to Leadership Praxis. I hope to represent Winrock International’s Farmer to Farmer (F2F) Program at the 82nd Professional Agricultural Workers Conference in Montgomery.  My topic is Cultivating Leadership Stories in Rural Senegal: Winrock International’s Farmer to Farmer Volunteer Program.

As you can see, I remain active and engaged as I also continue to teach in the Individualized Master of Arts (IMA) Program, a department within Antioch University’s School of Education.  Please stay tuned to this channel for updates.  Peace,  Dr. G
