I incorporated the term ‘chillax’ into my working vocabulary years ago as my grandson Michael is fond of using the expression. A portmanteau, chillax blends the words chill and relax. Chillax aptly describes the evening of Tuesday, February 20, 2024, when a friend, Dr. Sola Olusola and his son, Michael, a 4th year law student at Ajayi Crowther University, invited me for dinner, Suya and drinks. We began our odyssey at Ibadan’s Ultima Café where I consumed a delicious dinner of jollof rice, snail and moi moi, all standard Nigerian cuisine. Not content to stop there, my host took us to the Sabo section of Ibadan where he purchased Suya a delicacy that has caught on in the United States. Next, we ventured to the Arn Heim Recreational Centre, a pleasant outdoor spot where cool evening breezes caressed my face. During the evening, we discussed issues of personal and international import; this is what the Fulbright Experience is all about—people-to-people contact.
